One of the most exciting professional development opportunities over the past two years has been TeachMeet, an unconference by teachers, for teachers. Its tagline is:

Learn something new, be amazed, amused and enthused. This is an informal gathering of those curious about technologies and teaching.

It started life as an informal meeting in a pub of a half-dozen Scottish educators who had met online, sharing their classroom practice through weblogs. It's since become a regular national event in Scotland and at London's BETT education show, attracting some of the most bleeding edge teaching and technology practice on offer. At both the Scottish Learning Festival and at London's BETT participants have acclaimed it their "best ever CPD" and the "highlight of the event". Smaller regional TeachMeets can be found in Perth, East Lothian, Shropshire and London.
