Presentations

Keep checking back here and at our Twitter page, @kentonlearning, to find out more about the presenters and presentations.

  • Whiteboard Whirlwind - Getting students to answer shorter exam questions as a group in silence. Each member of the group answers one line of the question before passing the whiteboard on to the next person, creating a whirlwind of whiteboards.

    - John Lalor

  • 8QQs - An engaging and easily adapted resources which visually shows progress and aids differentiation.
    - Leah Flynn

  • Making Assessment Reviews Effective - Make personalised examiner's notes and differentiated progress questions for all. Efficient and effective, ensuring all assessments are learning opportunities.
    - Adele Barward-Symmons
  • Using a Mystery -  A key question proposed and students need to use the information to find the answer.  This activity is differentiated through the information given, which engages students and allows them to make progress.
    - Emma Turner

  • Cheeky Nando's - Mmm… tasty differentiation with added engagement!  Simply hard/harder/hardest re-packaged as Nando’s spices: medium/hot/extra hot.  Use for: task variation, visual progress and choice homework.  Add Portuguese background music for extra zing!
    - James Hulse

  • AfL Wheel of Fortune -  Take a chance to ensure progress and understanding. Based on the Magenta Principles (and using Triptico!) this is a quick and fun way to assess the learning of your students.
    - Kayleigh Thomas

  • Animate 2 Educate - 'Apps to Bring the Curriculum to Life'. Short showcase of apps showing how tablet technology can be effectively used with children of all ages and across all areas of the curriculum.
    - Martin Bailey

  • Word Match - Getting students to see beyond the immediate single answer to a question is difficult.  This is a technique which allows students to match words in different ways and encourages them to  the go beyond simplest explanation of something.
    - Terri Ryan & Barry Morrell

  • Want to ask better questions? - Do you want your pupils to give fuller more thoughtful answers? Do you want to do less work? Then have a look at this way of questioning and how it can apply across all curriculum areas. Suitable for all ability levels.

    - Sue Johnson

  • Projects to help make your lessons count! - Some lesson ideas/projects to help you highlight and enhance the numeracy skills that appear in your subject.
    - Emma Ferguson
