What is TeachMeet?

 

Learn something new, be amazed, amused and enthused. This is an informal gathering of those curious about teaching and technology. Anyone can share great ideas they've trialled in their classrooms, ask important questions or simply sign up to take part in learning conversations. Would be good to see and hear both Primary and Secondary Teachers.

 

I thought it a good idea to take Curriculum for Excellence as a theme for the night! There is plenty of good and great practice being developed that we need to know about... so I hope this is your chance!

 

I've also spotted that great minds think alike and that East Lothian are planning something similar the week before... so lets hope that between us we can spread the word about what CfE could be doing for everyone!

What can you do?

You can come along to chat, meet new people, or give a seven minute talk, a two minute nano presentation or lead a conversation.

As with all Teachmeets, we are dependant on our sponsors for a venue, refreshments, wifi, equipment and other costs.

 

 

 

 

Presentation Rules

 What are the rules for this Teachmeet ?

 

 

You can use whatever presentation format you want including PowerPoint, keynote, prezi, slide rocket, 280 slides, you could just talk, show something from the web, hold up a poster or you could sing a song or do something different ?

 

The important thing is that you get your message across and you will only get one minute set up time.

 

Be prepared for technical difficulties and be ready to wing it on the night! That’s what makes Teachmeet exciting!

Learning conversations

 

At recent TeachMeets, not everybody who wished to present has been able to present. Similary, not everybody wishes to perform. So... instead of doing a presentation, would you like to lead a conversation on a topic that's currently close to your heart? Perhaps it's an area where you have more questions than answers?

 

How about every 3 presentations then breakout for ten mins to cluster tables for informal Conversations ?

Answers From the Crowd

As an alternative to being lead in conversation by a more knowing other, participants can post a topic or question here which will be the focus of a twitter thread. At an appropriate time in the evening the focus of each thread could be presented in either a twitterfall or twazzup presentation. This idea would allow the lurkers to contribute to the event without the need to stand up and present.

EDUtalk is a non-commercial, education community project to gather the voices of educators.  It is based upon the SLFtalk project which encouraged attendees at the Scottish Learning Festival in September 2009 to record voices and then published them online, in one place, with a Creative Commons license.

What do we need to make the event happen?

 

Who can help organise things before, on the day or during the event?

 

We'll need AV equipment/wifi/laptops/other stuff... (Hope most can be provided by the venue...!)

 

• Neil Winton - I can bring projector(s) + a MacBook for main machine
• Sheena Devlin- projector, flip camera, accordion etc
• Mark McShane - iMac, MacBook, Dell(!), projector, leads, GlowMeet, caffeinated enthusiasm (a bit short in the musical instrument department)

Tags and Twitter

The key to sharing (and finding) is good tags. The default tag for this will be #tmperth10, and I'll sort out delicious/diigo/etc nearer the time!

 

When you are mentioning TeachMeet Perth CfE whilst using Twitter please just add #tmperth10 somewhere in the tweet - that way it will be picked up by a Twitter search. On the night of the TeachMeet we will have a projected live feed of the Twitter backchannel.
