TeachMeet Student Edition Dundee

This TeachMeet is specifically targeted at student teachers, teachers in their probationary year and newly qualified teachers. It's an informal gathering of those who want to share cool ideas they have tried in their classrooms.

You can come along to chat, watch, listen or give a seven or two minute presentation - you don't need to be a probationer or student to present - everyone's welcome

Afterwards we hope you will continue to chat and socialise at a local restaurant for TeachEat.

To sign up: e-mail dundeeSED-tm@yahoo.com or add your name below (Not sure how? Click here for instructions)

What to Present?

You can talk about anything that has inspired you, has worked well in class, a tool, a strategy, a topic... The list is endless.  The one rule here is NO SELLING!

Let's also agree not to cause any PowerPoint induced comas and remember technology may not always be your friend.  Set up time is 2 minutes for each presentation.

You do not have to present anything, you can always be an Enthusiastic Lurker

Seven Minute Micropresentations

Whether it is about your classroom displays, encouraging speaking and listening or an engaging web tool, your talk must be about real learning activities. It must be practical and applicable.

If it is online please add links to your presentation or work to the title (this will speed things up on the night).

Add your name and what you may talk about below.

  1. Dundee Science Centre

  2. Jenny Harvey - @relativism - probably games based learning based on Endless Ocean 2

  3. Andy McLaughlin - @mclaughlin_andy - Animation as a Learning Tool (hopefully presented by pupils!!)

  4. Neil Winton - "Wikis for Excellence", or "How to fail successfully!" - I'll make my mind up by January... honest! ;-)    (sadly Neil has had to cancel, Andy might do a little Wiki magic in his absence!) link to Andy's demo wiki: http://arbroathinga-s1saga2010.wikispaces.com/ )

  5.  Con Morris - "Glow - CPD for Student Teachers"  (happy to bow out if too many)

  6. Olivia Wexelstein -  Wellwood PS: One-Stop Glow Simplified - Glow group to help staff get started on Glow

  7.  Paul Campbell @PCampbell91 - 'Digital Literacies in the Early Years' - lessons for all the stages

  8.  Leona Tindal - Social Networking for Schools

Learning Conversations

Not everyone gets, or wants, to present, which means you could sit through the entire thing without saying a word - that's not exactly the best way to learn! Recent unconferences, including LeadMeet09 and the education2020 unconference, have included time for small group discussion. How about every 3 presentations then 10 minutes for informal group conversations?

Possible conversation topics - please add ideas to this list:

  1. Recording pupil progress for assessment
  2. Curriculum for Excellence: What is working for you? Where next?
  3. 2 stars and a wish for Scottish Education
  4. Probationer chat
  5. Using Social Networking for learning and teaching
  6. Emerging strengths and challenges from the Donaldson Review of Teacher Education in Scotland

Two Minute NanoPresentations

Whether it is about your classroom displays, encouraging speaking and listening or an engaging web tool, your talk must be about real learning activities. It must be practical and applicable.
