What is a TeachMeet?

Learn something new, be amazed, amused and enthused.  This is an informal gathering of those curious about teaching and learning, technology and pedagogy. Anyone can share great ideas they've trialled in their classrooms, ask important questions or simply sign up to take part in learning conversations.  Everyone is welcome to join in: teachers from all types of schools, teaching all subjects and age groups.  The main part of TeachMeet is hearing stories about learning from teachers.  It is a chance for teachers to hear ideas from each other and be inspired by colleagues, along with a whole bucket load of networking to boot!

This Sheffield edition of TeachMeet has an NQT and now also PGCE focus. This doesn't mean you have to be an NQT or PGCE student to attend, rather we're hoping to have newly and recently qualified teachers together with more seasoned educationalists, in order to share ideas about using technology in the classroom. Presentations could be focussed on the one indispensable tool for a newly qualified teacher, or simply provide inspiration for all teachers, whatever their experience.  It isn't always easy to attend something like this after a long day at school, but we know you'll go away inspired, plus there will be free food and drink, and even the opportunity to win some goodies.

Presentation Rules

What are the rules for this Teachmeet if I want to present?

You can use whatever presentation format you want including PowerPoint, keynote, prezi, slide rocket, 280 slides, you could just talk, show something from the web, hold up a poster or you could sing a song!

The important thing is that you get your message across and you will only get one minute set up time.

Be prepared for technical difficulties and be ready to wing it on the night! That’s what makes Teachmeet exciting!

On the night ad hoc presenting!

As many attendees are TeachMeet first-timers and fairly new to teaching, there will be a short section after the break for people to stand up and present something who haven't already signed up to do so. This is for those people who may have been too shy to put themselves forward to present, but find themselves so inspired by previous presentations that they decide to share some good practice or interesting resource. So bring ideas along to share, just in case! On this note, we'll also set up a Wallwisher page to share favourite ICT/online tools.
