What is Teachmeet Manchester? 

Learn something new, be amazed,amused and enthused. This is an informal gathering of those curious about teaching and technology. Anyone can share great ideas they've trialled in their classrooms, ask important questions or simply sign up to take part in learning conversations. Everyone is welcome to join in: teachers from all types of schools, teaching all subjects and age groups. The main part of TeachMeet is hearing stories about learning from teachers. It is a chance for teachers to hear ideas from each other and be inspired by colleagues, along with a whole bucket load of networking to boot. Basically, it is like a course without the boring course bit!

 

What are the rules? 

If you are speaking it must be about something that you have used in school. This is not a sale pitch opportunity so don't bother!

What you talk about is up to you, it may not necessarily be ICT related, this is fine as the ideas are to help promote good learning.

Each presenter will be allowed 1 minute to set up, and don't forget that technology loves to choose when it works so be ready to wing it on the night.......thats part of the fun.

There is no rule about using powerpoint or such like, it is up to you how you get your ideas across. You may just want to use the web or a blog.

 

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THAT YOU MANAGE TO SHARE AND GET YOUR IDEA/MESSAGE ACROSS

The joy of a Teachmeet is that you don't HAVE to do anything if you don't want to. My first Teachmeet was in Blackpool and I was there just writing down all the great ideas people shared. 

 

HOW TO SIGN UP

1) In the top right corner click log in

2)Enter the following details

 Username:   guest

 Password:    teemhcaet 

3)Type your name under the appropriate heading, feel free to leave a link to your school/ LA website,blog or portal

4)Click save in the bottom left corner

Directions   Chorlton Park Primary School M21 7HH 

From South

Leave the M56 and join A5103 (Princess Parkway) stay in middle lane until you pass the MacDonalds on the right. Join the left lane and follow signs to Chorlton, bare left at the lights. The cemetary should be on your right. Stay on this road until you reach main Boxing Glove set of lights at a crossing (Co-Op on your left). Turn right and the school is on your left.

M60 come off at Junction 5 and join the A5103, follow instructions above.

From North

It is probably best to join the Ringroad on the M60 rather than try and battle against inner-city Manchester traffic. Come off at Junction 5.
