Teachmeet @BETT 2011

Page history last edited by Coral Garcia 11 years, 7 months ago

An important note about signing up to attend:

Due to the unique nature of a TeachMeet at the BETT Show, this year attendance will involve getting a free ticket via the TeachMeet BETT 2011 Eventbrite page. This will make it easy to communicate with everyone who signs up in case there are any last minute changes.

This is a free ticketing system (and so works well in the TeachMeet state of mind...). Please only add your name to this wiki if you are planning on presenting - either a seven minute micropresentation or a two minute nanopresentation - or attending the post-event "TeachEat"...

It's important that there are at least as many practitioners as exhbitors and salespeople there so there's a good balance - so teacher/practitioner tickets will be released first, then tickets for exhibitors will be released in January.

What is TeachMeet?

Sponsors

TeachMeet @BETT 2011 wouldn't be possible without the kind support of the companies & organisations below:

TeachEat Sponsor:

Ewan McIntosh  digital  |  learning  |  design thinking

Learn something new, be amazed, amused and enthused. This is an informal gathering of those curious about teaching and learning. Anyone can share great ideas they've trialled in their classrooms, ask important questions or simply sign up to take part in learning conversations. Education professionals from all sectors are welcome to take part.

The main part of TeachMeet is hearing stories about learning, from teachers. This is not an event to present about a product or theory - this is a chance for teachers from all types of establishments to hear ideas from each other. Real narratives of practice that make a difference. It is about being engaged and inspired by our immediate colleagues and a whole bucket load of networking to boot!

Important note: this page is for the Friday evening TeachMeet session - the TeachMeet TakeOver page is elsewhere.

Organisers

If anyone wants to pitch in, you're welcome. Please make sure you sign up for a ticket first though!

Seven minute micropresentations

WHETHER IT IS ABOUT YOUR CLASSROOM DISPLAYS, ENCOURAGING SPEAKING AND LISTENING OR AN ENGAGING WEB TOOL, YOUR TALK MUST BE ABOUT REAL LEARNING ACTIVITIES. IT MUST BE PRACTICAL AND APPLICABLE.

If it is online please add links to your presentation or work to the title (this will speed things up on the night)

It's quite possible that there will be more presentations than there is space to fit them all in - this is a good thing, however it might mean that you don't get to present on the night, due to the random nature in which they are chosen. This makes it all the more important that you give a link to your presentation materials (and exposition if that's necessary) below, next to your title, as this will mean people can find out about what you're presenting on even if you don't actually get to stand up and present...

Add your name and a sentence describing what you're planning on talking about below, plus a link to your presentation materials once they're ready. This last bit's important for the sharing element of a TeachMeet to work!

TeachEatBETT

As with previous years we are going to organise a group visit to Pizza Express immediately at the end of the TeachMeet (around 9:30pm).  All TeachMeetBETT attendees are welcome to come along. Last year Pizza Express set a maximum group size of 70, so it is likely that this will be the case this year.

It is important to note that although we hope that sponsors may make a contribution to reduce the overall cost of the meal, all attendees should be aware that they may have to make some contribution to the cost of the meal.

If you represent a company and want to contribute to the costs of the meal, please email Drew Buddie (drew [at] buddie [dot] plus [dot]com) as soon as possible.

Pizza Express is now booked.  The maximum party size is confirmed as 70, so please sign up promptly to avoid disappointment as we regret that no names can be added once the list reaches 70 people.

Also the management have confirmed that they will honour ONE voucher for the WHOLE PARTY and we will have this voucher with us (by all means print your own copy off if you wish though).
