TM365

Page history last edited by Catherine Miller 20 hours, 1 minute ago

TeachMeets are well established, informal events, all about creating opportunities for educators to share practice, discover new ideas, network and be inspired. Anyone can get involved, share great ideas they've trialled in their classrooms, ask important questions or simply take part in learning conversations. All are welcome.

TeachMeet365 is an idea about bringing people together in small, local groups to talk, listen and ask (or answer) questions. There will be no huge audiences in big halls, live video streaming on the internet or sponsors to deal with; just small groups of educators sharing with each other.

Originally, the idea was to have 12 such events - one every month - over the year around Central Scotland. However, the interest has been such that many other areas are keen to get involved too. To help with organisation, we shall make it the month that the number refers to rather than a particular event, so any TM365s that happen in October are tm365/1, any in November are tm365/2, December tm365/3 and so on. If there is more than one event any given month then the locations can be used to distinguish between them - eg using the format tm365/12/Glasgow and tm365/12/Edinburgh. On Twitter, the #tm365 should suffice for all!

This wiki will be used to organise the events, share dates, venue details and to give an idea of numbers and those who are attending. Please feel free to get as involved as you would like with the organisation of any events, but remember participants are just as important - if not more important - than organisers!

Time for #TM365 to hit the bonny banks of the River Ayr in a shiny new university campus!!

This event is part of a community-led media festival that encourages people to take part in and showcase what they are passionate about across the South West of Scotland. Find out more about it here: http://www.uwsinteractive.net/

Wednesday 7th March, UWS Ayr Campus

GT27, Level 3. All welcome, including students!

1700-1900 (5pm-7pm)

Around 30 spaces-ish. If there is high demand, we may seek an alternative venue but it would be a shame to miss the riverside view! If you arrive early then do meet up in the main atrium for a coffee at Starbucks from 4.30pm onwards. Hope to see you all there.

Strictly no pitches / selling / advertising

Catherine Ness

More listening than talking if that's OK :-) Of course and thanks for being first to sign up. :)

Jane Thomson

jane.thomson@strath.ac.uk

Same as above but prepared to talk about 'learning in 21st century' if necessary. Would prefer to just have a discussion. Discussion is more valuable for me! Happy to provide discussion topics too. Good idea, Jane. Room has three large round tables and smaller ones around sides which would facilitate discussion. Anyone who wants to present can, of course.

Omar Kettlewell

omar.kettlewell@strath.ac.uk

Could I please join in discussion. (Same as above, willing to talk - though not sure what on..!) On placement and finish on 7th.

Start 2012 fully recharged and inspired! The National Galleries of Scotland have kindly agreed that we can use the Farmer Education Suite in the recently re-opened Scottish National Portrait Gallery (SNPG) on Queen Street in Edinburgh. The SNPG is highly accessible and within walking distance from both the bus and rail stations. Feel free to arrive earlier and have a look round this fantastic building following the renovation. (I highly recommend the War at Sea exhibition!) There will be WiFi available. (Hope to have a live stream of proceedings)

Wednesday 4th of January, Farmer Education Suite, Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Queen Street, Edinburgh 1300-1500 (1pm-3pm).

Update 30/12/11:

I visited the venue yesterday. The room is a good size (it's on your left as you enter the building immediately behind the 'Hot Scots' exhibition). As the room can accommodate more than 20, I've extended the number of slots below. I'm waiting to hear back from the SNPG Learning Coordinator to find out if we can use the projector which is ceiling mounted. After I spoke to him he was going to contact the AV technician to establish if it is ok for us to use their tech. (I'll update on here when I've heard back from him.)

As there's a good number signed up, could you tweet me with how long a slot you want (2 or 7 minutes) as the room is only booked for 2 hours - please include the #tm365 hashtag too. To reiterate, strictly no pitches, selling or advertising.
