Welcome to TeachMeet Roehampton

Connecting students and teachers in south west London

What is a TeachMeet?

It's a chance to learn something new, be amazed, amused and enthused.
This is an informal gathering of those curious about teaching and learning, including (but not limited to) student teachers, teachers and lecturers. Anyone can share great ideas they've trialled in their classrooms, on placement or in lectures, ask important questions or simply sign up to take part in conversations about learning.

When and where

From 6pm to 9pm and beyond, Tuesday 31st January 2012

Portrait Room, Grove House, Froebel College

Roehampton, London SW15 5PJ

See here for parking, location and teacheat refreshments.

We'll also have a live feed via WebEx on the night - check back here for details...

Queries, comments and offers of sponsorship to Miles Berry (@mberry) or Andy Hoang (@andytgeezer)

What can you do?

You can come along to chat, meet new people, or give a seven minute micro presentation or a two minute nano presentation - A TeachMeet is not a spectator sport - you don't have to present, but you're amongst friends, you've got a story to tell, and you'll have much more fun if you join in.

The University of Roehampton is providing a rather nice venue, wifi, streaming and some refreshments, but we'd welcome sponsors for everything else (and perhaps a few raffle prizes...)

Presentation rules

  • You don't have to show slides: you can just tell a story or start a conversation about what you've done where you teach. If you do want to show some slides, feel free to use SMART Notebook, ActivInspire, Prezi, Google Presentation, SlideShare, Keynote, or even PowerPoint.
  • You don't have to present about technology - this is a TeachMeet, not a TechieMeet, although, of course, you can, and we'll be using a fair bit of tech on the night. If you want to show something online, it's helpful to have the links beforehand in the list below...
  • You don't have to be with us in person (although we hope you will) - we'll have live streaming from the room and you should be able to present virtually (live or via a recording) if you can't make it down to Roehampton on the nigh.
  • We'd really rather you didn't try to sell something - the focus is learning and teaching not products.

Hi Lucy - I'm working on getting all the videos and slides up. They are slowly coming up at http://tmroehampton.posterous.com/

Is there any way that the slides that every one presented on the night could be posted? It would be really helpful. Best regards, Lucy Johnson @creativeducator

This is the perfect blog for anyone who wants to know about this topic. You know so much its almost hard to argue with you (not that I really would want...HaHa). You definitely put a new spin on a subject thats been written about for years. Great stuff, just great!

Hello all, we are attempting to get a 'TED' style YouTube channel up and running for TeachMeet presentations to be freely shared across the country (and beyond). If you would be interested in filming your presentations and uploading onto the "teachmeets" youtube channel, please get in touch! ... teachmeets@gmail.com
