What is TeachMeet?

Learn something new, be amazed, amused and enthused. This is an informal gathering of those curious about teaching and learning. Anyone can share great ideas they've trialled in their classrooms, ask important questions or simply sign up to take part in learning conversations. Education professionals from all sectors are welcome to take part.

The main part of TeachMeet is hearing stories about learning, from teachers. This is not an event to present about a product or theory - this is a chance for teachers from all types of establishments to hear ideas from each other. Real narratives of practice that make a difference. It is about being engaged and inspired by our immediate colleagues and a whole bucket load of networking to boot!

If you have attended a TeachMeet before, you will know how great these events are. For this TeachMeet we are urging you to bring a friend from school or university along with you and introduce them to this great alternative to Professional Development. Remember you can come along and listen, you do not have to present.

Marc (@Marc_Withersey)

I am an early years teacher and an Apple Distinguished Educator. I was challenged to present at my first ever TeachMeet in Lutterworth by Tom Barrett in my NQT year. A TeachMeet can open your eyes to so many different approaches, strategies and resources to enhance learning in your classroom. It doesn’t matter what age you teach, any resource that is being presented can be adapted to be used with your class.

"After attending, and being inspired at, a number of TeachMeets over the past year, I've decided to take part in the organising and running of TeachMeet Nottingham. TeachMeet offers 'those in the field' chance to share and evaluate ideas with like minded people in a friendly and relaxed environment. The content of peoples' presentations are so varied that there will always be something relevant to your own practice. I've never left a TeachMeet without my head being filled with ideas and resources to try out with my class."

When and Where?

TeachMeet Nottingham has a new home!

The labs at the LSRI can become a regular home for TeachMeet in Nottingham and it is our hope that many more small scale events will take place over the rest of this year. This is the second TeachMeet Nottingham event to be hosted here and we hope that someone who attends this event will organise the next!

If you are interested in running a TeachMeet in this venue please get in touch with us and we will do everything we can to help.
