Teachmeet Newport

Learn something new; be amazed, amused and enthused!

What's a TeachMeet?

It is an informal and enjoyable gathering of those curious about and involved in teaching and learning. Anyone can share great ideas they've trialled in their classrooms, ask questions or simply turn up and soak up all the great ideas and enthusiasm. In particular, this Teach Meet focuses on Technology in Education and so if you have any ideas, experiences or stories that you would like to share, then sign up to talk!

The main part of the TeachMeet is hearing stories about learning, from teachers and other education professionals. This is a chance for education professionals to hear ideas from each other, a chance to hear real narratives of practice that makes a difference. It is about being engaged and inspired by our colleagues and gaining a whole bucket load of networking to boot!

It's a chance to learn something new, be amazed, amused and enthused.

This is an informal gathering of those curious about teaching and learning. Anyone can share great ideas they've trialled in their classrooms, or on placement, ask important questions or simply sign up to take part in conversations about learning.

This is not an event to present about a product or theory - this is a chance for teachers, and others working in classrooms, to share good practice.  TeachMeet is about engaging and inspiring and making connections with other educators.

If you would like to participate... Please fill in your name on this page.  You can edit this page to add your details (details of how to do this below) or email cj1s@outlook.com with information that needs uploading. Follow our twitter #tmnewport

Craig Jones

"After attending, and being inspired at a TeachMeet, I've decided to take part in the organising and running of TeachMeet Newport. TeachMeet offers 'those in the field' a chance to share and evaluate ideas with like minded people in a friendly and relaxed environment. The content of peoples' presentations are so varied that there will always be something relevant, my motivation for organising the event is pure and simply supporting education. "

You can come along to chat, meet new people, or give a five minute micro presentation or a two minute nano presentation - As explained TeachMeet is about sharing good practice and ideas that have worked well in the classroom.  You don't have to present, you can just watch, but the atmosphere will be very supportive and we would like to encourage as many people as possible to present!

TeachMeets are free - due to the location of this event all attendees must register below for security purposes and to gain access to the site.

Presentation guidelines

  • You can present on any aspect of classroom practice that you like.  This can be related to how you develop student independence in the classroom but it doesn't have to be.  You may want to share activities that have worked well with your students, class projects, work that has been produced, lesson ideas..... Please keep it classroom based, rather than whole-school/leadership based, so that it is appropriate to everyone in the room.

  • You don't have to show slides, but you can if you want to.  There will be a computer available which will be connected to the internet.

  • The facilities at Panasonic are comprehensive with loads of technology at your disposal if you'd like to find out me details please drop me a line @ cj1s@outlook.com
