Part 2

TeachMeet BETT 2013  will be taking place on Friday 1st February 2013at the NEW LOCATION of the BETT SHOW:  Platinum Suite, Excel Centre,  Royal Victoria Dock, E16 1XL London and tickets (which will be released in several batches), can be obtained here: http://teachmeetbett2013.eventbrite.co.uk/

What is TeachMeet?

Learn something new, be amazed, amused and enthused. This is an informal gathering of those curious about teaching and learning. Anyone can share great ideas they've trialled in their classrooms, ask important questions or simply sign up to take part in learning conversations. Education professionals from all sectors are welcome to take part.

The main part of TeachMeet is hearing stories about learning, from teachers. This is not an event to present about a product or theory - this is a chance for teachers from all types of establishments to hear ideas from each other. Real narratives of practice that make a difference. It is about being engaged and inspired by our immediate colleagues and a whole bucket load of networking to boot!

Teachmeet Takeover / Friday's BETT Teachmeet

This is the page for the Teachmeet event held on the Friday evening of BETT in the PLATINUM SUITE. If you are attending BETT then you will probably be interested in the Teachmeet Takeover activities happening during the show too.

Twitter & Tags

When you are mentioning TeachMeet BETT 2013 whilst using Twitter please just add #TMBETT2013 somewhere in the tweet - that way it will be picked up by a Twitter search.

Tags (for everything else ... flickr, YouTube, facebook etc)

Let's keep it all together and use the following tag for all posts, images, tweets and presentations to do with TeachMeet BETT 2013: TMBETT2013

How to edit this page

  1. If you're looking to sign up to attend, then get your free ticket from the TeachMeet BETT 2013 Eventbrite page. If you want to present, then follow the instructions below...
  2. Click the EDIT tab at the top of this page - you'll be prompted to login.
  3. Note that the PBwiki system has changed, so either:
    1. create a PBworks account, which is quick and simple, and login; or
    2. alternatively you can login using the limited guest account - username guest password teemhcaet
  4. Return to this page and click the EDIT tab
  5. Add your name to the bottom of the appropriate Mud Run Tips list (with a link to your Twitter page or blog so others can follow you, plus a sentence on what you're going to be presenting on)
  6. Click the Save button at the foot of the page...
  7. That's it!

This year a new BETT venue brings with it a TeachMeet BETT which is potentially bigger and better than ever.  This can only happen with YOUR help.

To celebrate this move to a new location, we have a few things up our sleeve, including: a very special guest as compere, live Skype-ins from international educators (if their presentations are selected), more audience interaction, dedicated live-tweeting (as for one Friday night only #ukedchat spreads the TeachMeet word further afield than ever before), more access to resources you see shown by presenters and what we hope will be a very different and fun end to the evening to replace the traditional TeachEat!  Keep watching this Wiki page for more details.

PROGRAMME OF EVENTS:

The main essentials of the event, such as wifi log-ins, maps, speaker biographies and links to presentations, are being compiled into a Programme of Events, which is available here and will be available on the night! (note: working document)

PRESENTATIONS:

WHETHER IT IS ABOUT YOUR CLASSROOM DISPLAYS, ENCOURAGING SPEAKING AND LISTENING OR AN ENGAGING WEB TOOL, YOUR TALK MUST BE ABOUT REAL LEARNING ACTIVITIES. IT MUST BE PRACTICAL AND APPLICABLE.

If it is online please add links to your presentation or work to the title (this will speed things up on the night)

It's quite possible that there will be more presentations than there is space to fit them all in - this is a good thing, however it might mean that you don't get to present on the night, due to the random nature in which they are chosen. This makes it all the more important that you give a link to your presentation materials (and exposition if that's necessary) below, next to your title, as this will mean people can find out about what you're presenting on even if you don't actually get to stand up and present...

We will be handing out a programme of presentations to all attendees to take away with them. This will include a sentence or two about your presentation, links to your Twitter, blog etc. you will be contacted nearer the time to ask you to provide these details if you don't want to publish them below just yet. We believe this will help people take your ideas back to their classroom.

Please ensure that you put your name, Twitter-handle if you have one, and title of your proposed talk, in the space provided:

Ideally we want AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE to put themselves forward to make a presentation.  For the time being we are NOT setting a MAXIMUM number of potential presentations, so please do not 'hold' a slot if you have not decided on the topic, we promise NOT to guillotine the presentation lists until the submission deadline of midnight on 27th January 2013 (to give time for printed materials to be produced).

PLEASE MAKE SURE ANY ELECTRONIC RESOURCES - LINKS TO ONLINE PRESENTATIONS - POWERPOINTS - ANYTHING YOU MAY WANT TO DISPLAY IS AVAILABLE AND EMAILED TO teachmeetbett13@gmail.com BY THE DEADLINE OR YOU WILL RUN THE RISK OF BEING UNABLE TO PRESENT. We are keen to have all resources curated for all presentations regardless of whether you get to present or not, so your message is assured of being shared. Please adhere to this deadline.

In light of this, we ask that you do give due consideration as to whether your talk needs to be 7 minutes long (these are okay of course) or if they can be given as a 2 minute nano-presentation.
