Welcome to the homepage for the English TeachMeet on the 16th of November. Join us for a morning of meeting other likeminded teachers of English who are nosy and want to see what others do in their classrooms. The aim for the meeting is to share ideas, resources and strategies relating to the teaching of English in secondary schools. It is free to attend and you are welcome to present or observe. If you have any questions or queries, then contact me on Twitter at @Xris32 or email at ccurtis45@googlemail.com.
Please advertise the English TeachMeet with you colleagues and other schools. Please use #TMEng when on Twitter to spread the word.
The venue is the Saint John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy in Ilkeston. There is ample free parking and it is only a bus away from Derby or Nottingham. If you are using a satnav then the postcode is DE7 4HX.

Presentations
Sign up below if you would like to present. You can talk about anything related to English. It could be an idea or resource you use in the class. It could also be a description of a lesson that works. Most presentations will be about five minutes long, but you can, if you wish, have a shorter presentation of two minutes. There will be a laptop and projector available for you to use. Furthermore, if you email your resources beforehand, I will include them in a booklet produced for the meeting. Hopefully, this will save you from faffing about with sheets of paper and photocopying.

The Problem Solver
The Problem Solver is just going to be informal way of teachers sharing strategies for dealing with a particular problems. During the break, guests will write down their solutions to the problems on the sheets provided. It could be simple problem like: What books appeal to boy heavy classes? Or, it could be a complex problem like: How do I stretch the most able in the class, while teaching the less able students at the same time?
1. What plays work well with KS3? I find too many of the books are silly, inappropriate or just don't have enough parts for students.
2. How do you get through Shakespeare quickly?
3. What works with bottom sets?
4. How do you get students to proof read work correctly?
5. What makes students hesitant to read for enjoyment?
