What is it?

This TeachMeet is fantastic free CPD opportunity - an informal conference organised by teachers, for teachers to share research and development that is going on in their schools. It is organised in partnership with Coventry Teaching School Network and The University of Warwick, Centre for Professional Education.

 

Why come along?

It is a fantastic opportunity to meet and network with other teachers, learn new ideas, be involved, share. Not only will there be a fantastic choice of workshops (see below), there will be a choice of FREE hot meals available along with free refreshments and cake. There will also be a host of freebies and goodie bags plus the chance to win some awesome prizes including high street vouchers and a free place at the SSAT Achievement Show 2015 (worth £260).

 

Keynote

Professor Des Hewitt, experienced teacher & veteran classroom researcher, Head of Primary Education at The University of Warwick, will launch the evening with a brief keynote highlighting how easy class room research can be and the transformational impact it can have on your learners.

There will then be a choice of workshops, by teachers, for teachers, including:-

 

Lesson Study - Bridget Clay, Teacher Development Trust @bridget89ec @TeacherDevTrust

Discover more about Lesson Study - a collaborative teacher driven approach to professional learning, focussing on the pupils in your class. The session discuss the principles of Lesson Study and some examples of how and where it has been used.

 

Introduction to a 3D printer - Claire Moore, Caludon Castle School

An introduction to the range of items that can be 3D printed. A demonstration of the 3D printter and how it has been used to enrich student learning within Technology.

 

Highlights of Teachers' Research - Nico De Groot & colleagues, Sidney Stringer Academy

Nico and colleagues present highlights of the findings to date from their current class room resarch projects.

 

Talking Points - Julie Bircher, President Kennedy School

A highly reccomended session on the implementation of Talking Points to develop oracy and literacy. The session includes background information to the project and a practical demonstration.

 

Research and development strategies - Lisa Bradbury, Curee

The teacher as researcher: integrating high quality research into everyday practice - Emma Collins & Richard Hatton, Tudor Grange Academies Trust

This session explores how practictioners and polic-makers can forge research-rich organisational culture with a focus on teaching and learning and the regular dissemination of evidence.
