TeachMeet LNF North Wales

Page history last edited by Paula Williams 9 years ago

What is a TeachMeet?

A TeachMeet is an informal gathering for those of us who are enthusiastic about learning and teaching and who are keen to share ideas. Everyone is invited to share approaches they have trialled in their classrooms, examples of good practice and to ask questions, or simply to soak up all the ideas and atmosphere.

The focus of our TeachMeet is the Literacy and Numeracy Framework in Wales, so if you have some great ideas and you want to show how you are implementing the framework in your classroom/school, we would really really love to hear it! The National Support Programme is organising this event to help teachers to share and learn from each other. This is a great opportunity to network with like minded practitioners and to see some great practice in LNF implementation.

The main point of a TeachMeet is to hear stories about learning from teachers and other education professionals. It is about being engaged and inspired by our immediate colleagues and gaining a whole bucket load of networking to boot! To work, it needs people to sign up to give short presentations; presentations can last for 2, or 7, minutes and can include demonstrations or visual aids as appropriate.

If you have done something exciting with one of your classes recently or if you would like to come along and watch, sign up below and come along. Open to all with an interest in the Literacy and Numeracy Framework (both Primary and Secondary).

Watch it on Periscope!

With the lateen of Periscope last month, we thought it would be fun spending some minutes at the start demonstrating how this innovative tool works and thinking about how it could be used in the classroom, as well as outside its four walls, obviously :-)

We will also try to broadcast the presentations, so if you cannot make the TeachMeet, you can still follow the action from home, or from wherever you are, even on demand after the event! To be able to view the presentations on Periscope make sure you follow Alessio (@asober) on Twitter and Periscope. You will need to login to Periscope with your Twitter account, but it is pretty simple, promise!

We are not 100% sure, but it is possible we will be the first TeachMeet broadcast over Periscope, so don't miss your chance to be part of history ;-)
